Couples Therapy: $180

Group Therapy: Varies depending on the group.
I accept credit cards, debit cards, and HSA Cards.

-
I’m currently In-Network with Aetna and Quest.
Please reach out to me to confirm my most up to date insurance information.
I always advise potential clients to either reach out to their insurance provider or go to their provider website to explore what their benefits are exactly. During our consultation I can also look up what your benefits would be if you have your insurance card handy to provide the information.
Even if you don’t want to work with me, if you are looking to use insurance benefits with another provider, phrase the question using the phrase ‘in network’ and not ‘do you accept ____ insurance’. There’s a really gross practice happening now amongst all healthcare providers where providers will say they accept your insurance because they accept the out of network benefits. I find that super misleading and unethical.

Individual therapy sessions will start with a biopsychosocial assessment. This can take one or a couple sessions to get through. Everyone is different and it’s okay if it takes more time to get through. A biopsychosocial assessment is just a fancy way of saying that I’m going to ask questions about you, your history, what’s going on, and generally learn about you as we build our therapeutic alliance. From there we will set some goals for therapy. Depending on your goals and how you like to work will dictate the structure of our sessions. If you like homework we can check in on homework. If you want to leave therapy in the session we can create a structure of what you would like to work on each session- with flexibility of course.
-
We will work together to learn about each person in the relationship and what the areas of concern are. In couples therapy, the relationship is the client and there will be no ‘taking sides’. Relationships are team work and it’s working together on the same team to accomplish your shared relationship goals. After our first session I do like to meet with each partner individually to learn more about them, what their concerns are in the relationship, their history, etc. Then we will reconvene afterwards to continue our work all together.
-
These sessions have a lot of structure as there will be weekly homework assignments. Initially we will work together to create goals and a plan on how to execute them. This will involve trial and error, and checking in on what worked or didn’t work for you each week.
-
Right now I am currently not facilitating any therapy groups, but please reach out to me if you would like to be informed of any future therapy groups.

An easy place to start is in the administrative realm. Some important considerations are:
Appointment availability. Find a mental health provider that works with your schedule. Being able to easily meet regularly without added stress will help you reach your goals. This also includes how the therapists meets with you. Do you want online therapy or life coaching sessions? Make sure they can accommodate that. Do you want in person therapy or life coaching sessions? Make sure they have an office space that’s easy for you to get to.
Price. Look for a provider who in your price range and/or is in network with your insurance if you want to use in network insurance benefits. Times are hard and therapy should only add to your healing, not create more financial stress.
The next thing to look out for will be credentials. Psychotherapists need to have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in a counseling related field. If you are looking for medication you will need to find a medical provider such as a psychiatric nurse practitioner or psychiatrist.
You also need to find someone who has a license to practice therapy in the state you are physically in. If you’re unsure of the standing of your current provider, you can look them up on your state’s licensing board.
Life coaches are a much more gray area. Life coaching is not a protected, licensed profession, so anyone can call themselves a life coach with zero training. Horrifying, I know. There are steps being taken to legitimize the life coaching profession. For now either look for a therapist who also offers life coaching, or look for a life coach that has certifications to prove they have training.
All therapists can provide life coaching, but not all life coaches can be therapists.
Finally, you want to find a provider that specializes in working with individuals/couples who are struggling with what’s bringing you to therapy. If you’re curious in receiving a specific type of therapy, find someone that is trained in that modality.
The biggest factor in you reaching your therapy goals is the relationship between the provider and the client, so you want to find someone you click with. There are a lot of therapists out there, and one person’s favorite therapist might be another person’s worst nightmare. Find someone that you like and trust.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, let me know at least 24 hours before our session. If you contact me less than 24 hours before your scheduled session, it will be considered a late cancellation and you will be charged your full fee if you are a private pay client. If you are using one of my in network insurance companies, you will be charged $100.
An appointment is considered a ‘no show’ if you are 15+minutes late to our session without notice. At around the 5 minute mark I will reach out to you to see where you are for your session. If you answer and let me know what’s going on and when you will be joining the session, I will wait for you. If I contact you at that 5-ish minute mark and you cannot attend the session it will still be considered a late cancellation.
